Continuous Delivery is a software development discipline where you build software in such a way that the software can be released to production at any time.
– Martin Fowler, ThoughtWorks
You’ve probably heard the term many times by now. Continuous Delivery is one of the hottest trends within the software industry and the idea is simple: deliver more software, faster and with high quality. But how do you really do that?
In this seminar we will share our experiences working with continuous delivery. In order to be able to release new versions continuously we have to plan accordingly. Using agile project planning focus is on breaking down functionalites and creating a support for fast deliveries.
Development will of of course be adapted in order to fit together with short lead times. Agile teams help delivering working software, which means taking responsibility for design, coding, testing and deployment.
To enable efficient development and testing we also need efficient environment management. With Microsoft Azure we have a simple way of accessing almost an infinite amount of infrastructure. With Azure we can create new development and test environments within minutes instead of days or weeks.
During the seminar we will work using the latest version of Microsoft TFS and Azure. This means planning with agile tools in TFS, develoment in Visual Studio, build/packeting/release with TFS and Microsoft Release Management Server, environment management with Azure and testing using testing tools in Visual Studio and Azure.
This free seminar is a collaboration between Solidify and Microsoft.
